Social movements

My general approach to understanding movements is relational: I investigate the mechanisms of network formation and network breakdown. In work with Walter Nicholls, I examine how movements come together or fall apart in urban spaces. I’ve developed an interest in the interplay between communication technologies and movement development, for instance, in the case of Anonymous and the US immigrant rights movement.
